As I said a few weeks ago, Killer Sudoku is ridiculously popular these days, and the trend will probably keep going for a while since there is indeed much to do with the variant. Opportunely, Cracking the Cryptic recently released a new app dedicated to Killer Sudoku (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1471910/Killer_Sudoku/ - also available in other stores) and I have had the pleasure of contributing a large number of puzzles, some of which are available at launch while others will get added to the app in future updates. All the puzzles therein are handcrafted and several other talented authors have contributed, so I encourage you to check it out.

You may rightly feel a bit uneasy at the thought that there are so many killers on the loose... But fear not, they will not stay free much longer. Actually, some of them have already been caught and locked up in a high-security prison, an overview of which I provide thereafter. Now that I think of it, let's hope nobody uses this classified document to plan an escape...

Rules :

Each row, column and region must contain the digits from 1 to 9.
Digits in a dotted cage sum to the value in the top-left corner. No digit can repeat within a cage.
A digit in a shaded cell must be greater than all the digits in adjacent unshaded cells.

La première grille de cette nouvelle année marque également ma cinquantième contribution à la League. Pour l'occasion vous avez droit à deux grilles pour le prix d'une, sous la forme de deux sudokus reliés à l'aide de deux cases ; l'inspiration m'est notamment venue de l'épreuve 3 des championnats du monde 2012.

Compte tenu de sa présentation la grille de la semaine ne sera pas jouable en ligne sur le site sudokucup.

The first puzzle of this new year is also my fiftieth contribution to the League. For this occasion you get two puzzles for the price of one, in the form of two sudokus linked by two cells. I found the inspiration in the round 3 of the world championship 2012.
Due to its presentation this sudoku will not be solvable online on the sudokucup website.

Règles Sudoku Deficit :
Chaque ligne et colonne doivent contenir les chiffres de 1 à 6.
Chaque région doit contenir au plus une fois chacun des chiffres de 1 à 6.

Each region must contain each digit from to 1 to 6 at most once.

Un chiffre situé dans une case grise est nécessairement plus grand que les chiffres situés dans les cases blanches orthogonalement adjacentes.

Cette semaine dans le cadre de la League of Extraordinay Ladies and Gentlemen, une variante intéressante et pour laquelle j'ai une certaine affection, mais que l'on ne croise pas si fréquemment. Une petite subtilité est à repérer afin de pouvoir progresser efficacement sur cette grille. Bonne chance !
